Movistar anunció este jueves que ha actualizado mil de sus radiobases para distribuir su señal de las distintas tecnologías, incluyendo 5G, una vez que se completen las acciones necesarias para su despliegue.
Las estaciones radiobase 5G, también conocidas como gNodeB, son la infraestructura central para las redes inalámbricas 5G. Utilizan tecnología como MIMO (múltiple entrada y salida múltiple) y operan en bandas de frecuencia más altas, incluyendo las ondas milimétricas, para ofrecer velocidades más rápidas y manejar un mayor volumen de datos.

En el marco del plan de actualización tecnológica, que incluye la sustitución de nodos por dispositivos de última generación, Movistar puso en servicio su nodo número 1.000 en los últimos 10 meses.
“Este encendido es muy representativo porque es el resultado de un esfuerzo ambicioso y sostenido para la evolución de la red de acceso de Movistar en Venezuela. Nuestro objetivo es brindar a nuestros usuarios una conectividad robusta y con mayor velocidad”, afirmó Esther Borges, directora de Tecnología de Movistar.
Los nuevos nodos están diseñados para distribuir la señal de las distintas tecnologías, inclusive 5G, una vez se completen el resto de las acciones asociadas con el despliegue.
Las modernizaciones han tenido impacto positivo en la experiencia de usuario en regiones como Occidente, Andes, Centro Occidente y Gran Caracas, en las cuales se registran mayores velocidades de navegación, para carga y descarga de contenido. Esto confirma la capacidad de la infraestructura para soportar mayor demanda de conectividad.
Este plan se proyecta hacia los próximos años con el objetivo de ampliar esta huella, cada vez más robusta, de comunicación. La compañía cerrará 2025 con un crecimiento importante en el total de acciones de red para mejorar la calidad de su servicio.
