Casi la mitad de las empresas pequeñas y medianas considera la ciberseguridad como un área de «importancia moderada», afirmó la empresa Eset Venezuela, en una presentación a la prensa. El investigador de Eset Juan Carlos López citó un estudio reciente de la Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) sobre las Pymes, en el que se evidencia que estas empresas no se consideran como un blanco prioritario de las ciber amenazas.
En 2025, destaca el especialista, los ciberataques dirigidos a las Pymes han tenido una frecuencia alarmante. «Las pymes tienen la misma probabilidad que las grandes corporaciones de atraer la atención de los ciberatacantes o, más probablemente, del sistema de bots automatizados que implementan para encontrar y vulnerar las redes. Este tipo de ciberataques, replicados a gran escala en miles de pymes, puede ser tan efectivo para un atacante como un solo ataque a una gran corporación», señala López.
El estudio de GTIA que al preguntar a las Pymes cómo calificarían la atención y el enfoque de inversión que la ciberseguridad atrae en su organización, el 40 % la describió como estratégica y proactiva. Esto significa que la ciberseguridad es una prioridad para el propietario de su empresa y otras partes interesadas, y que un porcentaje considerable del presupuesto total de tecnología se destina a este gasto.

«Es preocupante que cuatro de cada diez pymes tengan un enfoque estratégico y proactivo mucho menos prioritario de lo que debería ser», dice Juan Carlos López. Los riesgos potencialmente graves de ciberataques, señala, deberían motivar a la mayoría o a todas las pymes a adoptar esta mentalidad.
